Cain was a tiller of the land while Abel pastured his flock. As Adam’s sons, they both have access to God. In their respective altars, they could offer God their very best so that God in turn, can acknowledge as His own like Adam before Eden was lost.
But while Abel was most obedient to the will of God feeding his flock to the best of his ability so that he could offer the fattest and most unblemished ones as his sacrificial offerings in his altar he dedicated to God, Cain was adamant to follow his own will. Which is why he would keep the best fruits of the land for himself and only offer the ones from where he had already chosen the best. Of course, this is something that God knows, for He is omniscient, but the growing evil in Cain’s heart made him blind to the truth.
In the execution of sacerdotal duties today, two kinds of clergymen perform differently. The Cain priests follow their hearts content, that is their own will and not the will of God. The Abel priests on the other hand keep God’s will within their hearts and only in this would they find contentment.
The Cains are lovers of freedom. He does not care for instructions as to the proper way of worship. In his love for freedom he forgot that liberty itself may be the freedom to do what is evil. His exercise of freedom has caused him to deify himself and therefore keep what is best for him and the least good may be offered to God. The Cain priest has turned materialistic, as he kept the goods for himself, denying God what is rightfully His. As he becomes materialistic, he begins to overlook the need for sacrifice and then proceeds to deny it. Finally, he expects the fruits of his labor to be blessed and finally accepted and feels unfulfilled because he does not feel His presence. And the vicious cycle of his offerings continues and regretfully fails to give him fulfillment.
The Cains had forgotten that prayer is an exercise of desire. St. Augustine says that a man’s heart is too small for the greatness of God to fill it, and by delaying His gift, God enlarges the soul so that it would have the capacity to receive Him. He then asks the logical question “suppose that God wishes to fill you with honey; but if you are full of vinegar, where will you put the honey?”
But the Abels are content with their obedience to God following the instructions of the magisterium which have been sealed in doing the perpetual sacrifice as constituted in the Traditional Latin Mass. It was this same compulsion of obedience to the Cain bishops that they are invited out into the field for the untimely demise of their sacerdotal duties. God’s honey of tenderness and goodness was wasted by some novos ordo vinegar who although has the validity of an altar offering, and therefore a mass, departs from what was intended to be a perpetual sacrifice.
This travesty of egalitarian variances of all faiths converging in ecumenism in the Catholic rites had in fact made the Catholic sacrament a protestant service. All in the name of brotherhood and equality. The Cains wanted God’s recognition of the novos ordo equal with their brother the Abels but deep in their hearts they saw that only the Traditional Latin Mass is the only really acceptable for it still has the hostia, the victim which God requires and which God equipped the the Abels the real acceptance as He Himself made true His Real presence.
This is why also in novos ordo, discontentment is manifested in the many experiments made on how to conduct the mass. Cain knew by heart that God requires the best but he freely willed the offering of different species of produce thinking that by their great variety God will be appeased. But Abel knew that a humble and contrite heart, even a broken one at that is what God requires and simply gives the best of this flock. And God recognized this and consumed the altar offering he made. But this angered Cain more for he discerned that God’s reception of Abel’s sacrifice actually humiliates his manifold gifts.
And having felt denied of being equal with this brother, his adamant stance turns to evil and a murderous plan of annihilating his rival. And so, we, in the church militant, should discern and see this evil plan of removing the traditional Latin mass priests so that there would be no more competition between the two kinds of priesthoods because now there will only just be one: the Cain priesthood.
While the Cain priesthood is busy sorting out what materials would suffice as gifts and those that they can keep as facilitators, community builders, counselors, committee advisers and feast presidents, etc., they would require greater lay participation and this can easily be shown at communion. Now, it is all for show and the mass became a mess because there is now a real irreverence to His Real Presence.
But even if the Cains are able to exterminate all Abels, they are in for a greater surprise. For God will set forth Seth, the third son in whom the loss of Abel on earth will be vindicated.
But alas for the cursed Cain who deified man against the will of God; who had been disobedient to the call to holiness as a priest; who had the impurity of handling sacraments with impure motives; and who had the pride of harming his brothers for his own sake. You have already taken what you craved for and you no longer deserve a heavenly reward.
Or have you forgotten? “Faith in the hypostasis of things hoped for; the proof things not seen.” (Est antem fides sperandum substantia rerum, argumentum non apparentium.) For St. Thomas Aquinas, faith is a habitus, it does not waver with what man, even those trying to deify themselves, would imagine out of fear and more so with anxiety.
Thus, if we want to be with God, let that be a stable and constant habit of wanting Him. Let us not be waylaid by the materialism and projections of modernism which insists in putting man in place of God. Let us bless and protect the remaining Abels and just in case, God takes them all as blessed martyrs, set ourselves on the side of Seth.
