There is the Sitio Katatakutan in Sorsogon, the gold and crystal village of Tumao in Palawan and some villages claimed to have been lost after a great catasthrope which would still somehow manifest itself by sounds, shadows and strange lights which seem to indicate their former locus. But the most enduring story is about Biringan which is in the Waray islands.
The reason for its popularity or even notoriety is the fact that some parcels are said to be sent and ordered from there confusing some traders. For why would orders come to be made if a place does not exist. Another popular story is about having a classmate from Biringan who may be inviting another classmate to have a vacation there only to realize that the address given points to a densely thicketed forest or a woody mountain of lush vegetation. The “strange” classmate who invites the prank victim is usually Caucasian in features and if the victim becomes really sick, the divining albularyo will indicate that the prank was made by a dalakitnon or a tree-inhabiting elemental who apparently goes also to the city for tertiary education.
But strange experiences do not only involve strange classmates. There are also stories that circulate around with people actually having been to the strange city. There are those who really enjoyed their vacation there or were abducted or seduced by encantos who actually dwell within Biringan. Those who were able to come back spoke of a plush modern city bright with lights and full of modern amenities. Others were not so lucky or have found themselves the fortune of being accepted as one of the city-dwellers. In their place however, the “returnee” can actually be a changeling who was sent to replace the missing relative or family member. One would expect that the one who returned will behave very differently as compared to the missing person.
Wiser people or people with discernment however, believe that it is unwise to choose settling in Biringan or any other place of another dimension because encantos are actually demons or descendants of the Nephelim or the fallen angels who continue to be attracted to mankind.
One remarkable story is that of a doctor who was fetched from his house by an expectant father who was afraid that his wife would be imperiled at childbirth. The doctor obliged and observed that they have entered a town or city which was different from the others he had already visited in the island. Retracing his route the very next day, the doctor would like to see the beautiful well-lighted city once again, or even visit the mother who had just given birth. He had no luck for in place what seemed to be his actual route was a dense jungle. The portal had been closed already. Apparently, even the road map wouldn’t show it. Or perhaps the reader must have heard of ships being stranded in the reef because they followed the lights of a great city from a distance and sought to dock in that city for an emergency with the crew finding only an island or a land area uninhabited but full of trees.
It would seem that the tall trees of such forest cover are the condominiums of these Pandemonium citizens. Would you dare visit?
