It is very important to take this sacrament because it will give us Eternal Life as our Lord promised in John 6:51-55:
“I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever; and the bread that I will give, is my flesh, for the life of the world. The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying: How can this man give us his flesh to eat? Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say unto you: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath everlasting life: and I will raise him up in the last day.”
The Jews were enraged because they thought it was cannibalism. Some of His disciples left Him, and only the Twelve Apostles stayed with Him. Until Christ consecrated the bread and wine into His Body and Blood at the Last Supper, the first Holy Mass in the world.
Pope St. Pius X also stated that the Holy Eucharist is our way to heaven:
“Holy Communion is the shortest and safest way to Heaven.”
Why you called the Holy Eucharist is the greatest love?
Because during the consecration of the Bread and Wine, the Holy Mass leads us back in time where out Lord Jesus Christ sacrifices His life on the cross to save us from our sins because He loves us. And because of this Holy Sacrifice, His body and blood were now given to many which is the Holy Eucharist, God’s greatest love of us.
How do we become worthy to receive His Love?
First, we must baptize in His name (The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit). Also, we must take the Sacrament of Penance where we confess our sins and receive absolution which it will restore the Sanctifying Grace that was stained by our sins. And last, we must receive the Holy Eucharist using our tongue while kneeling. Because if we use our hands that were not consecrated to hold the Sacred Host, it is at the moment that we will sin before we take it.
Brethren, it is very important that we receive our Lord in every Holy Mass we attend. May be some of us haven’t received Him because the lack of confession in some churches. And because of the Communion in the Hand that most of the churches doing today. We must find a way to worship Him every Sunday in the Holy Mass even we went to the Traditional Latin Mass which is far from our home or we don’t like the community. What’s important is that we receive our Lord, we receive His love.
