The Third Secret of Fatima

Scribe:

Those in the media and some in the hierarchy would say: The Third Secret of Fatima had already been divulged as early as the potinficate of John XXIII who is now a canonized saint. The manner by which it was kept hidden by the church hierarchy makes mankind wonder concerning its content. Especially, why has it been kept secret for so long or in fact if it indeed was revealed already, what are its real content?

Pharisee:

Those who are established princes of the church and bishop would say: As far as we can see, the secret as already been unravelled. There is no need to sensationalize on its contents because the only reason for its being hidden is because in the 1960s such changes would have cause some uproar in some sectors of the church which are still sensitive to winds of change.

Saducee:

Those who are not happy with church affairs may say: Sad to say, the secret needs to be kept even up to this time because some in the church hierarchy are involved. The winds of change continue to blow and many revelations continue to shock members of the church.

Zealot:

The crimes committed by some clergymen are outrageous! The cardinals and bishops continue to perpetrate these crimes and even the Pope was derelict in his duty as shepherd of the flock. Perpetrators of crime against their fellow priests, women especially nuns and children who were grievously molested should pay for their crimes.

In Conclusion: The militant church member should be aware that there is a resident evil within the church and its influence must have reached the papal throne. In purifying the church which has become so worldly in its attempt to be relevant to modern times, the only possible way is to gradually be liberated from its fatal contagion by returning to its simple and positive origins.

The Dogmas of the Virgin Mary Part Four – The Assumption

But since the Pope has already declared the dogma and we take the account from traditions, it is what we believe. And why is the Virgin Mary so unique to the Assumption? What did she do? We know the Blessed Virgin was innocent from the very beginning. From the moment of her conception and when she was born, she had no original sin. And so the Archangel Saint Gabriel said: “Thou art full of grace, blessed are you among all women.” God has chosen the Blessed Virgin to the Theotokos, Mother of God and Mother of the Savior. “And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.

And since the Blessed Virgin is most pure, her reward is to be taken up into Heaven both her body and soul or have an Assumption. If the Lord had prepared rooms for His Apostles in Heaven, he would have prepared more for His Mother. So the Virgin was led to Heaven with body and soul.

So how did this happen? The time of the departing of the Blessed Virgin came. Also, during this time, the Apostles were spreading the Good News across the world. Some angels told them (the Apostles) that the Virgin was nearing the hour of her departure. The apostles returned to where the Virgin was located – in Ephesus. Ten Apostles arrived because Saint John was already in Ephesus with the Holy Mother. They reached the Virgin Mother before she went to sleep (Dormition). The last to arrive was Saint Thomas. He asked if he could see the Blessed Virgin for the last time. But when Saint Thomas went to the grave, there was no longer the body of the Blessed Virgin. She has already been assumed or taken up into Heaven. You can find this event in the vision of Blessed Anne Catherine Emerich.

The Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of the Assumption every August 15. What does this dogma say? It tells us that if we do good and continue doing good, we will one day be in the company of Our Lord in Heaven.

The Fifteen Mysteries of the Holy Rosary

The Holy Rosary has 15 Mysteries – the Joyful, the Sorrowful and the Glorious Mysteries – and contains five prayers – the Apostles Creed, Our Father (Lord’s Prayer), Hail Mary, Glory Be and the Fatima Prayer. These 15 Mysteries contains the Life of our Lord Jesus Christ and the Coronation of the Blessed Virgin Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth.

Is the Holy Rosary Biblical?

Yes, it is. Because every mystery contains the stories from the New Testament such as the birth of our Lord, His Passion and His Resurrection. And the queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the book of Revelation.

You said there are 15 Mysteries, but we have 20 Mysteries.

During the Vatican II, many changes occurred inside the church including the Holy Mass. During the reign of Pope John Paul II on 2002, he made a change on the Holy Rosary by adding a new set of mystery, the “Luminous Mystery”. This mystery is only optional which means you have no obligation to use it. But as time passed, the optional has slowly became official.

Why some Catholics does not use the “Luminous Mystery”?

Some Catholics including the Traditional ones does not want to use the “Luminous Mystery” because the Blessed Virgin Mary did not include or teach the Luminous Mystery to St. Dominic. Except for the Fatima Prayer where she teaches it to the three children in Fatima.

Some Catholic Scholars and Theologians give proof or reason why 15 Mysteries is the only number of mysteries that a catholic must use:

  1. When the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to St. Bernadette Soubirous, she asks the saint to come to the grotto in Massabielle in 15 Days.
  2. According to Blessed Alain de la Roche on his vision of the Blessed Virgin Mary giving the Holy Rosary to St. Dominic, the Blessed Mother made 15 promises to Christians who pray the Rosary.
  3. The Blessed Virgin Mary when she appeared in Fatima, she asked to meditate on the mysteries of the Holy Rosary for 15 minutes.
  4. Also, another proof is when the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared 15 times to a novice nun, Sister Teresita in Lipa, Batangas.

The Victories of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The Battle of Lepanto (1571)

The Battle of Lepanto is one of the greatest naval battle in the world. Where Pope St. Pius V organized the Holy League, a coalition of forces from Spain and smaller Christian Kingdoms to rescue Christian outpost in Cyprus from the Ottoman Empire. The Holy League was disadvantagesagainst the Ottoman Empire, Pope St. Pius V called for all Europe to pray Holy Rosary for Victory until the Holy League won against the Ottoman Empire. Pope St. Pius V instituted the feast of “Our Lady of Victory” in commemoration the victory of Battle of Lepanto where the Blessed Virgin Mary help the Holy League by the Most Holy Rosary. Then in 1573, his successor, Pope Gregory XIII change the name of the feast to “The Feast of the Holy Rosary”.

The Battle of La Naval De Manila (1646)

In the Philippines, the combined Spanish and Filipino forces fought against Protestant Dutch Republic whom are attempting to invade the Country. They ask for the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and pray the rosary repeatedly to win this naval battle which lasted in five battles. Before the second battle began, General Orellana and Admiral Lopez made a public vow to the Blessed Virgin Mary if they come out victorious, they will make a solemn feast in Her honor, and all of them would walk barefoot to Our Lady’s chapel at Santo Domingo church. After their third victory in third battle, General Orellana fullfilled his vow by marching barefoot to Santo Domingo Church together with his troop. And after their victory in their last battle agains the dutch, they once again marched barefoot to the Shrine of our Lady of the Rosary in Santo Domingo Church. On April 4, 1906, Pope St. Pius X approved the image of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary — La Naval de Manila by Canonical Coronation.

The EDSA Revolution (1986)

The Blessed Virgin Mary also had another victory in the Philippines. In 1986, the people revolt against the Dictator, President Ferdinand Marcos who use Martial Law to reign the country in 20 years where many people suffered and died during his reign. Instead of a bloody revolt, it became bloodless as Catholic Faithful gather to EDSA without weapons, instead they brought their rosaries, Crucifixes, images of Sto. Nino and the Blessed Virgin Mary, food, flowers and prayed to God with the intercession of the Blessed Mother. President Marcos sent a full army with tanks and armored vehicles. He planned to stop the revolt even if that brings chaos to the people. As the soldiers advanced, they saw up in the sky what appeared to be a cross-like figure but it did not hinder them as they continued to press forward to the crowd but the people still continuous praying the Holy Rosary. Then what happened next change the hearts of the soldiers. While preparing for an assault, they saw a beautiful woman dressed as a nun who became visible in front of the tanks. The beautiful woman dressed in blue with heavenly eyes as she appeared in front of the soldiers and extended her arms outward and spoke in a voice that was clearly audible to everyone:

“Dear soldiers, stop! Do not proceed. Do not harm my children. I am the Queen of this land.”

The Soldiers dropped their weapons and join the people to fight against the Dictator. The television station that covering the event prompted “Mother Mary is with us”. Marcos’ central command gave the order to fire on the people but the soldiers just made excuses like machine malfunctioned and the canons are not working. The people won, the dictator was removed to his position and declared Corazon Aquino as the new president. To commemorate the victory of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Edsa Revolution and to thank God for freeing the Filipino people from the dictator, a shrine was built in EDSA with the large image of the Blessed Virgin Mary, it is called the Shrine of Mary, Queen of Peace (Our Lady of Edsa).

Truly, the Blessed Virgin Mary is victorious when we have a deep devotion to her and her Immaculate Heart. As her Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, our God, always listens to her. Sadly, people are slowly forgotten these events. But still we must not lose hope and continued to pray to God with the intercession of the Blessed Virgin as in the end, her immaculate heart will triumph!

Our Lady of Lourdes And The Rosary

On February 11, 1985 Saint Bernadette together with her sister and a friend went to the Grotto of Massabielle to gather firewood. Her companion went first to the woods while St. Bernadette remove her socks and shoes. Then she started to hear two gusts of wind. But the trees didn’t move except for the wild rose in the niche of the Grotto. At the grotto, a beautiful lady appeared to her with a blue girdle, a golden rosary on her hands and colored gold roses on each foot. The lady also covered by white light but she can clearly see the beautiful lady. The lady smiled at her and prompted her to approach her. St. Bernadette took the rosary from her pocket and kneeled before the Lady. When she was starting to make a sign of a cross, her body cannot move. After the sign of the cross of the beautiful lady, she was now able to move her body and also do the sign. Then, they started to praying the Holy Rosary. While praying, the lady is silent but her fingers are moving on every bead of her rosary. When starting to pray the “Glory be”, this is where the Lady accompanied her. St. Bernadette always pray the Rosary on every day she met the Beautiful Lady.

On March 25, 1858, the Beautiful Lady told her that she is “The Immaculate Conception”. This is where the church recognizer her as the Blessed Virgin Mary because at that time, that title is still on debate. Only the clergy knows this title and not the people outside the church, including the young Saint Bernadette. Until it became an official dogma on 1854.

WHY DOES ST. BERNADETTE KNEEL BEFORE THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY? SHE IS NOT A GOD.

Yes, she is not God, but we kneel before her because she is our Queen. Kneeling before her also gives adoration to our Lord Jesus Christ because she is His Mother. The Ark of the New Covenant.

WHY DOES THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY ONLY SAY THE “GLORY BE” AND NOT THE OTHER PRAYERS IN THE HOLY ROSARY?

The reason why she didn’t pray the other prayers because these prayers are meant to pray for those who still on earth, who are still suffering and capable to sin again. Our Blessed Mother, is already a saint in heaven. For Example, in Our Father, the prayer indicates “give us this our daily bread”, the Holy people in Heaven like the Blessed Virgin will never be hungry or thirsty. Then, on “forgive us our sins”, the Holy People or Saints in heaven are not capable to sin again because they are already Holy. The Hail Mary will never be prayed by the Blessed Mother because she is the person that we prayed to. The Glory Be is a prayer praising the Holy Trinity, the Three Persona of God. This prayer is both prayed or sung by the people on earth and the angels and saints on heaven. As for the Fatima Prayer, the prayer does not exist yet at the time when the Blessed Mother appeared in Lourdes because it was created by the Blessed Mother on 1917.

The Dogmas of the Blessed Virgin Mary  Part Three – Immaculate Conception

Let us take this one by one. The Pope said it was a privilege. Why did he say that? Let us look at the greeting of the Archangel Saint Gabriel – “Ave, full of grace. The Lord is in you”. And so with Saint Elizabeth’s greetings – “Blessed are you amongst women.” The Blessed Virgin would not receive the totality of grace in her soul if it had a mark of the spiritual death caused by the stain of the original sin. Saints like St. Justine, St. Ireneues, St. Ephriem, St. Ambrose, and St. Agustine are also testifying by the said teachings. The feast of the Immaculate Conception has been celebrated in the Greek Church since the 7th century and throughout Europe in the 12th century.

In a proof stated by Saint Thomas Aquinas, the redemption of the Blessed Virgin is a preservative redemption. It was a different kind of saving from what happened in humanity. What happened to humanity is liberative redemption. In common salvation, because man is in sin, we need to be cleansed. Let us describe it this way. There was mud on our path, and we were soiled with it as we passed by the path. Then we were cleaned from it through washing. But because the Virgin has preservative redemption, she has been kept away from contacting mud even before crossing it and therefore has not been soiled by it.
That is why God, when He came down to earth, chose to be His Mother, somebody who never became a companion of evil or never became under the dominion of sin. Because He will live in her womb for nine months, naturally, she should be immaculately clean. The Redeemer should have a Mother who was born and conceived immaculately.
Having this privilege also means that the Blessed Virgin has never had an instant of disobedience to God. She has become obedient to God. Also, through this privilege, her intelligence has never experienced a mistake. Her judgment is always correct. That’s why she is called the Seat of Wisdom, Virgin Most Prudent, and Mother of Good Counsel.

All four of the Virgin’s Dogmas are linked to one another because being the Mother of God means that the Blessed Virgin should be without sin and remain an eternal Virgin. And because she was immaculate, she was ascended into heaven with the body and soul. That is why the Dear Virgin is genuinely unique to all creations – blessed amongst women. Here is where the series about the Marian Dogmas will end. In the future, we hope to have more Dogmas regarding our Dear Mother.

St. Bernadette and the Immaculate Conception

Saint Bernadette’s story is popular when the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared on her on February 11, 1858, when she went to collect woods near the Grotto of Massabielle. Her companions went to the woods first while Saint Bernadette started to remove her socks and shoes. Then she heard two gusts of wind but the trees and bushes did not move except for the wild rose in the niche of the Grotto. There was beautiful lady who appeared to her wearing a white gown with blue girdle with a golden rosary on her hands and colored gold roses on each feet. The lady smiled on her and then they start to pray the rosary. The Lady is silent while praying the rosary, but start to speak in the “Glory be” part. After the rosary, the Lady disappeared.

In the next day, Saint Bernadette want to see the beautiful lady so she returned to grotto which the beautiful lady appeared again. The Lady wishes that Saint Bernadette to visit the grotto in 15 days which the saint agreed. During those 15 days, Saint Bernadette followed the wishes of the lady including the praying for the sinners, asking the priest to build a chapel and have a procession. The Lady also told her “I do not promise to make you happy in this world, but in the next”. One of the popular wishes of the Lady to done by Saint Bernadette is eating the grass, digging on the ground and drinking from the spring of water. Many people thought that she is crazy the miraculous spring appeared on the next day on the ground where she dug. Here many people from different places went to the miraculous spring and believed that the Blessed Virgin is the beautiful lady, but at that time, Saint Bernadette never told anyone that the Blessed Mother is the one who appeared to her, only a Beautiful Lady. Saint Bernadette always asked the Lady what is her name, but the Lady always response in a smile. Until March 25, the Lady finally revealed her name , “I am the Immaculate Conception”. The young saint did not understand what the Lady means, but the people of the church does. Because the “Immaculate Conception” title for the Blessed Virgin Mary is still on debated at that time before it becomes an official dogma of the Church.

Saint Bernadette become popular but she don’t want this kind of attention so she and her family decided that she will go to the Sisters of Charity of Nevers to stay and to study. Then she became a nun on July 29, 1866 and named “Sister Marie Bernard”. Because of her unhealthy body, she had a tuberculosis on lungs and bones. Her fellow Nuns advised her to take the water from the miraculous spring in Lourdes, but she declined and replied that the spring is not for her.

On April 16, 1879, Saint Bernadette died in the age of 35 while holding her rosary. She was canonized as a saint on December 8, 1933 by Pope Pius XI. Saint Bernadette is one of the saints that has an incorruptible body after death.

The Seven Sorrows of Mater Dolorosa

The feast of Our Lady of Sorrows in the Catholic church is observed every September 15. The seven daggers we see in religious arts and images pierced in her Heart represent the seven sorrows the Blessed Mother suffered during her life, which we are encouraged to reflect and contemplate..

Devotion to the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows became popular in the 12th century. The Cisterian Monasteries first built the altar of Mater Dolorosa in 1221. In France it also became popular and they observe it during Friday before Palm Sunday. There was a separate festival of the Seven Sorrows of Mary, until 1668, the Servites was granted to celebrate every third week of September. Pope Pius VII included the feast in 1814 in the General Roman Calendar. Until Pope Pius X moved this feast to September 15, the day after the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. At present, Catholics around the world observe this feast with devotion with so many churches and patronages in her honor.

St. Bridget gave us the Devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows with special prayer and graces, wherein we are to meditate on Our Lady’s sorrows with her life with Christ Our Savior.

The Prophecy of the Temple

The first sorrow of Mary was when Prophet Simeon announced the suffering and sacrifice baby Jesus would face when he was presented at the Temple.
(Luke 2: 25-35)

The Journey to Egypt

The second sorrow was their journey to Egypt. The new born Christ was in danger and they had to migrate to escape Herod’s evil command. Saint Joseph acted quickly in response to the angel’s warning to him in a dream. The Holy Family had to brave the rigors of traveling and face life in another land.
(Matthew 2: 13-15)

The Loss of the Three Days of Child Jesus

It was a tradition to observe the Feast of the Passover in Jerusalem. The Holy Family went there when the child Jesus was twelve years old. When they returned the child was no longer with them. They looked for Him among their relatives. Three days later they found Jesus in the temple conversing with wise men. Here Mary speaks of their sorrow at finding him: “Son, why have you done this to us? look at your father and we have looked for you with great sorrow.”
(Luke 2: 41-50)

The Encounter of Jesus Christ and Mother Mary bearing the Cross

Jesus was condemned and carried the cross to Calvary. He was handed the cross on which he was crucified. Mother Mary, accompanied by other women, faced Christ bearing the heavy cross. The pain was immense witnessing Her innocent Son, judged, tortured and wounded.
(Luke 23:27)

The Crucifixion and death of Jesus on the Cross

From the account of Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich, At the first stroke of the first nail in the hand of Jesus, the Blessed Virgin fainted. When she regained consciousness, Christ was nailed up to the cross in Calvary. She has to endure intense grief to see her beloved Son Jesus, the Son of God humiliated, crucified and die on the cross.
(John 19: 25-30)

The Descent from the Cross of the lifeless Jesus.

The sixth sorrow was when the body of Jesus was lowered from the cross. From the accounts of Blessed Emmerich: Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus, together with Cassius (we know in tradition as Longinus) and the other women of calvary, brought down the body of Christ with great care and reverence. The grief and anguish were evident to everyone of them, tears flowed as they gently held Christ’s body with His Dolorous Mother.
(John 19: 31-37)

The Burial of Christ Jesus

The seventh sorrow was when Mother Mary buried her Son with some other devout followers of the Lord. In the vision of Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich, they sent the Body of Christ to the Sepulchre in a procession. As Mother Mary gazed at her son’s lifeless body, tears flowed as she sat near the head of her beloved Son.
(Mark 15: 40-47)

Mary’s sorrow however continues as she sheds tears for her children here on earth who have greatly offended her Son. During the last century, she appeared to many apparitions bearing sad messages and calls for conversion.

The Virgin appeared in La Salette, France weeping in 1846. Here Our of La Salette mentioned to the two children Maximin and Melanie that she was holding the arm of her son for us: “If my people will not submit, I shall be forced to let fall the arm of my Son. It is so strong, so heavy, that I can no longer withhold it”. “However much you pray, however much you do, you will never recompense the pains I have taken for you.”

In Fatima, Portugal in 1917, the three children said that from the time the Lady of the Rosary appeared to them she barely smiled. She was always reminding them to offer sacrifices for sinners to turn away from sin. To pray the rosary daily so there will be peace.
We must heed Mary’s warning, our Mother’s call, it is our duty as a true Christian and in the words of St. John Eudes: “A man is no true christian if he has no true devotion to the Mother of Jesus Christ.”. So let us console our Mater Dolorosa and reflect with her sorrows. Make amends by following her motherly messages, make sacrifices and receive the wisdom and grace she promised to her children.

Mary and the Ark of the Covenant

But before we get started, let us remember:

“The Old Testament foreshadows New Testament” and “The New Testament fulfills the Old Testament”.

ARK OF THE COVENANT

Before we started, let’s The Ark of Covenant in the Old Testament was made by wood painted in Gold with two Cherubim images at the top of its cover. The design and details were instructed by God to Moses in Mount Sinai. The Ark of the Covenant was never mention again until the capture of Jerusalem by the Babylonians and burn the city to the ground. But the faith of the Ark of the Covenant was never revealed.

INSIDE THE ARK OF THE COVENANT

How the Blessed Virgin Mary become the Ark of the Covenant? Let us refresh our minds by remembering the things inside the Ark of the Covenant in Old Testament and compare it to the Blessed Mother, the New Ark of the Covenant in New Testament.

OLD TESTAMENT

  • THE STONE TABLET OF TEN COMMANDMENTS OF GOD -The Word of God written in the Stone Tablet.
  • MANNA – The Bread that came from heaven that God provides for the Israelites during their 40 years travel in the desert.
  • THE ROD OF THE HIGH PRIEST – The Rod of Moses older brother, High Priest Aaron.

NEW TESTAMENT (THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY)
JESUS CHRIST – Inside the womb of the Blessed Virgin contains our Lord Jesus Christ. But how can she become the Ark of the Covenant if she only contains our Lord Jesus Christ which is different to the Ark of the Covenant in the Old Testament.

Because our Lord Jesus Christ is:

  • THE WORD OF GOD – Our Lord Jesus Christ is the Word of God that became flesh.
  • THE BREAD OF LIFE – He is the Bread of Life, and whoever take this bread will never die.
  • ETERNAL PRIEST – Our Lord Jesus Christ is the Eternal Priest, and the head of the Catholic Church.
Remember: “The Old Testament foreshadows New Testament” and “The New Testament fulfills the Old Testament”. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the New Covenant, if he is the New Covenant, where is the Ark that carries him? It is none other than the Blessed Virgin Mother, His Mother.

In the Book of Revelation, Saint John the Apostle mentioned the Ark of the Covenant but suddenly mentioned the word “Woman”. The Protestants claimed that the description of Woman is not the the continuation of the Ark of the Covenant that Saint John mentioned. Saint John’s writings is very clear, the Ark of the Covenant is the “Woman”, and that Woman is none other than the Blessed Virgin Mary. Here’s another evidence when we compare the Old and New Testament.

OLD TESTAMENT

  • The Glory of God come upon the Ark and overshadow it.
  • “However can the ark of Yahweh come to me?” – King David (2 Samuel 6:9 – The Jerusalem Bible).
  • As the Ark of the Lord enters the City of David, King David leaps and dance.
  • The Ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obe-Edom for Three Months (2 Samuel 6:11)

NEW TESTAMENT

  • The Holy Spirit comes upon the Blessed Virgin Mary and the power of the Most High has overshadow her. (Luke 1:35)
  • “Why should I be honored with a visit from the mother of my Lord?” – Saint Elizabeth (Luke 1:43 – The Jerusalem Bible)
  • “For the moment your greeting reached my ears, the child in my womb leaped for joy.” – Saint Elizabeth (Luke 1:44 – The Jerusalem Bible)
  • The Blessed Virgin Mary remained with Saint Elizabeth for Three Month (Luke 1:56)

This is the clear proof that the Blessed Mother is the New Ark of the Covenant. Remember: “The Old Testament foreshadows New Testament” and “The New Testament fulfills the Old Testament”. This is God’s will, if he wants the Blessed Virgin Mary as the New Ark of the Covenant. So be it. The Lord’s will be done.
